On August 9-12, 2012 in Zazymje (Kyiv oblast) the Academy of Ukrainian Press conducted the Second Summer School on media education for teachers from pedagogical higher education institutions and oblast institutes for post graduate pedagogical education. The School was attended by 16 higher education teachers from 11 regions of Ukraine. This even was organized in partnership with the Institute for Innovative Technologies and Content of Education of the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, and Institute of Social and Political Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine. The objective of this School was to prepare higher education teachers for implementation of the educational course “Media Education/Media Literacy” within the system of higher education of Ukraine.
School lecturers included media experts from AUP, Internews Network, NGO “Internews-Ukraine”, teachers from the Institute of Journalism of Kyiv National University after Taras Shevchenko, and scientists from the institutes of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.
School participants took an intensive course, which included fundamentals of mass communication theory; fundamentals of teaching media education as an educational subject; issues related to manipulations in media and analysis of media texts.
