EXPERIENCE EXCHANGE MEETING FOR MEDIA LITERACY TRAINERS

In March-April 2017, the Academy of Ukrainian Press with the support of DW Akademie held 4 four-day trainings for media literacy trainers. The events were held in Kyiv (March 27-30), Zaporizhzhia (April 3-6), Odesa (April 10-13) and Poltava (April 25-28). As a result, 95 coaches were trained. During April-June, 69 of them held 174 trainings, during which media literacy knowledge was delivered to 3 997 Ukrainian citizens (out of a planned 2 400).

In June 14-15, experience exchange meeting with media literacy coaches took place where 41 coaches took part. During the meeting, they got acquainted with the elaborations, methods and experience gained during the project. After the meeting, the participants created a closed group in Facebook to support communication and further experience exchange.

Deutsche Welle Academy is Germany’s leading organization for international media development. Consultants and coaches have been supporting free and independent media since 1965. The organization offers intercultural and professional media training workshops, programs and internship for future journalists. DW has also prepared the Master’s degree program  ‘International Media Studies’  that combines  the disciplines of media and development, journalism, communication studies and media management.
