«Neglecting of journalistic standards caused to the total distrust of people in Ukrainian media. In 2014, (according to the Institute of Sociology, NAS of Ukraine), 45% of people did not trust Ukrainian media and 25% trusted. At the end of 2015, these indicators fell down: 50% did not trust and 20% trusted. Only the efficient content can return trust of audience’. – announced Valeriy Ivanov, President of AUP.
InJune, 7-8, 2016, the seminar ‘World journalistic standards’ was held for journalism students of V. Hnatyuk Ternopil Teachers’ Training University. Speakers – Valeriy Ivanov, President of AUP and Volodymyr Mostovyi, founder of Weekly Mirror newspaper, Head of Journalistic Ethics Committee, discussed with students the importance of following the professional standards.
Seminar participants used practical examples and learned how to inform about the conflicts, including those armed, and problems of IDP in a responsible manner. They also practiced how to identify breaking and following the journalistic standards, discussed the loyalty journalism issues and hate speech.
