The Academy of Ukrainian Press showcased its initiatives as part of the "Story of Responsible Partnership 2024" Award, selecting the nomination "Borderless Interaction: Ukraine to the World."
We presented two key initiatives that have become significant not only for Ukraine but also for the international community. Both projects share a common goal — supporting journalists working in war conditions and preserving the memory of media professionals who gave their lives for the truth.
The Training Program "Your Mission — Your Voice: Ukrainian Journalists on the Frontline"
This initiative trained 91 frontline journalists, equipping them with knowledge and skills in safety, psychological resilience, and first aid. It empowers them not only to report the truth but to do so safely.
The Memorial "Keepers of Memory: Journalists Who Died in the Russo-Ukrainian War"
This memorial features 46 stories of media professionals who gave their lives for the truth. It serves as a reminder that each of them was a hero, and their contributions to Ukraine's struggle cannot be forgotten.
The realization of these projects was made possible through the support of our partners: the Media and Digital Literacy Center of the Free University of Berlin and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom. Their support has enabled us not only to scale these initiatives but also to go beyond the borders of our country, presenting Ukraine's fight to the world.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the organizers of the "Story of Responsible Partnership" Award for the opportunity to share our initiatives. This award aims to show the world that responsible partnerships transform societies and help build a better future together.
The Academy of Ukrainian Press will continue its mission — fighting for the truth, preserving memory, and proving that the word is mightier than the weapon!
