AUP conducted three two-day seminars on ‘World journalistic standards’ over a week

«Neglecting of journalistic standards caused to the total distrust of people in Ukrainian media. In 2014, (according to the Institute of Sociology, NAS of Ukraine), 45% of people did not trust Ukrainian media and 25% trusted. At the end of 2015, these indicators fell down: 50% did not trust and 20% trusted. Onlytheefficientcontent can return trust of audience’. – announced Valeriy Ivanov, President of AUP.

In June, 7-8 (Ternopil), 8-9 (Vinnytsya), 13-14 (Kyiv) seminars for university students were held. The last 10th seminar of this session for future journalists was conducted in the capital. In total, 307 students attended 10 two-day training.

Speakers – Valeriy Ivanov, President of AUP and Volodymyr Mostovyi, founder of Weekly Mirror newspaper, Head of Journalistic Ethics Committee, discussed with students the importance of following the journalistic standards.

Seminar participants used practical examples and learned how to inform about the conflicts, including those armed, and problems of IDP in a responsible manner. They also practiced how to identify breaking and following the journalistic standards, discussed the loyalty journalism issues and hate speech.
