After the tragic death of his nephew in combat against Russian invaders, Andriy enlisted in the ranks of the 103rd Separate Brigade of Territorial Defense. Later, he defended his country on the eastern front, earning numerous commendations for his efforts.
During a combat mission in the Lyman direction, his vehicle tragically struck a mine. Andriy was critically wounded, losing a leg among other severe injuries. Despite undergoing rehabilitation, doctors were ultimately unable to save his life.
"As is well known, the work of a journalist is closely tied to witnessing both the overt and hidden truths of society, making this profession often fraught with risk. Journalists must be true witnesses of the truth and testify to it boldly in any situation," he wrote on his Facebook page.
A native of Lviv, Andriy studied at the Vasyl Stus Lyceum of International Relations and later graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. His journalism career began as a technical editor at „Foreign Economic Courier”. He also worked at Lviv City Council and played a significant role in organizing the UEFA Euro 2012 Championship in Lviv. He was an avid football fan and a passionate fisherman.
Since 2015, he served as the editor-in-chief of „Samooborona” newspaper, head of the NGO "AVTOKHAM," and director of the International Charitable Foundation "Kryshtal." Andriy was an exceptional patriot who actively participated in the Revolution of Dignity.
