From February, 28 till March, 1, 2017 the last workshop was held in Zaporizhzhya National University within ‘New HR-resources for New Ukraine’ project, organized by the Academy of Ukrainian Press and ‘Kadry’ portal with the support of Media Development Foundation, Embassy of the United States in Ukraine.
Printed and online media correspondents from Zaporizhzhya, journalism faculty students, editors and journalists of Zaporizhzhya Branch, National Social TV Broadcasting Company of Ukraine, CSO representatives participated in a workshop.
Project director, Dmytro Hamash familiarized the audience with the problems of recruiting competition process coverage in media, paid attention to the lack of complete answers to social demand for professional human resources update regarding not only state service positions, but also in management chain of public companies.
Andrii Yurychko, media trainer, journalist and lecturer at the Institute of Journalism, T. Shevchenko Kyiv National University, told in details about the verification peculiarities of candidates’ eligibility to competition requirements and honesty criteria.
«Activity of competition committee members is frequently limited to following the correspondence of education and work experience data to the formal competition requirements. At the same time, verification of candidates’ competencies is less paid attention to. And this is an opportunity for journalists to analyze, how a candidate matches the vacant position’, - pointed out Andrii Yurychko.
Peculiarities of forming the competition committee staff were also revealed to participants.
«Actually, several weeks ago, there was a competition committee session on appointing the director of municipal enterprise ‘V. H. Mahara Zaporizhzhya Regional Ukrainian Academic Music and Drama Theatre’. This competition was practically blocked due to the argues between the competition committee members, delegated by the personnel and civil society organizations. Journalists have received the knowledge of legal activity principles in competition committees and now, I am sure, their works will contain a new objectivity focus’, - mentioned Kateryna Bazarkina, a journalist.
Training participants have also coped with practical tasks on the candidate competence analysis, improved their skills in work with information about candidates of different registers.
The workshops were held in Lviv, Odesa and Mykolayiv within the framework of ‘New HR-resources for New Ukraine’ project. The overall number of participants made more than 80 people.
