On 17 April, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv hosted the VII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Current Issues of the Media Industry".
The event brought together leading Ukrainian and foreign scholars to discuss the challenges of the modern media environment, particularly in times of war.
In his presentation on "War and Media: Struggle for Truth in the New Environment", Valeriy Ivanov focused on the role of journalism during the military conflict, emphasising the media's responsibility to disseminate accurate information, counter disinformation and support democratic values.
Valeriy Ivanov emphasised that in the context of the hybrid war waged by Russia against Ukraine, information security is becoming a component of national security. He also outlined ways in which Ukrainian media can maintain the trust of the audience without losing ethical standards of journalism.
His speech sparked a lively discussion among the conference participants, who noted the relevance of the theses to understanding the role of the media in wartime.
