Artificial intelligence and media literacy: AUP completes a series of webinars with record attendance
On October 9-10, 2024, the Academy of Ukrainian Press, with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, held the final webinar "Artificial Intelligence and Media Literacy: Tools and Recommendations".
Over the past two months, the AUP has held 6 webinars on artificial intelligence, attended by 250 participants. The last webinar aroused great interest - 66 participants joined the event. During these two days, the participants deepened their knowledge of AI, learned how to make accurate queries (promtas), and discussed the use of AI in the fight against disinformation.
Valeriy Ivanov, President of the Academy of Ukrainian Press, Doctor of Philology, Professor, said: "Artificial intelligence offers huge opportunities in various fields of activity, it is a powerful tool that can both help and create certain problems. We dealt with all this at our webinars."
Maksym Zaporozhchenko, AUP Media Education Programs Manager, Head of the Center for Digital Education and Media Culture at the Mykolaiv Regional Institute of Postgraduate Education, said: "The final training of this project has taken place, but we see that interest in the topic of AI is only growing. We hope that we managed to "ignite" the desire in the participants to further explore large language models, as we have laid the foundation for this with our colleagues."
Andriy Yurychko, media trainer, journalist, PhD in philology, lecturer at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, commented: "We are pleased to join the digital processes that are taught not on the Internet, but at school. This is the case when we teach teachers to use language models and teach students how to use technology ethically and correctly."
