On October 2-3, the Academy of Ukrainian Press, with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, held the fifth webinar "Artificial Intelligence and Media Literacy: Tools and Recommendations."
Media literacy is the key to survival in the era of rapid development of AI and technology. The 57 participants of the webinar discussed with the trainers how to introduce new technologies to improve media literacy and fight disinformation.
Valeriy Ivanov, President of the Academy of Ukrainian Press, Doctor of Philology, Professor, said: "Our country is now facing existential challenges. But development is important, and the development of modern technologies for teaching and creating the future. That is why we are holding these trainings, which are very popular. We are sincerely grateful to our old, reliable partners from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom for their cooperation with this project."
Maksym Zaporozhchenko, AUP Media Education Programs Manager, Head of the Center for Digital Education and Media Culture at the Mykolaiv Regional Institute of Postgraduate Education, said: "None of the previous trainings is similar to each other. Each time, we refine the program, filling it with new tools, life hacks and recommendations on how to use AI in work. We follow the latest updates to ensure that the training content is as relevant as possible at the time of the training."
Andriy Yurychko, media trainer, journalist, PhD in philology, lecturer at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, commented: "A modern teacher should go, if not ahead of his or her students in mastering new technologies, then definitely together with them. Although the purpose of using an LLM is often different. For teachers, we focus on automating the paperwork routine and selecting similar cases to explain topics and test their knowledge."
