"Receiving a camera from the NUJU and its partners has improved the processing and prompt delivery of photos to editors," says Oleksandr Gusev, a photojournalist at SOPA Images.
The media outlet turned to the Union of Journalists for help last year. Oleksandr's equipment was outdated: it had been used since the beginning of the Maidan. So to continue taking quality pictures, he had to upgrade his camera. However, he did not have the resources to do so.
However, thanks to close cooperation with the German Foreign Ministry in partnership with the Academy of Ukrainian Press, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine helped their colleague!.
"I continue to try to convey to the world the problems, experiences, and tragedy of Ukrainians in this brutal war unleashed by Russia. I managed to capture many resonant events on camera," the journalist says.
We remind you that since 2022, the Academy of Ukrainian Press has been providing systematic technical support to individual journalists and media outlets with funding from Ukraine's international partners.
As of 2024, these are several hundred journalists and more than three dozen Ukrainian media outlets.
